TMMA Strengthens Industry Vision with New Leadership and Prestigious R&D and Export Awards

The Textile Machinery Manufacturers Association (TMMA) began the year 2025–26 with its first Executive Council meeting at the ITME Centre in Mumbai, where it announced a new leadership team and honored industry pioneers through the 65th R&D and Export Awards. The event combined strategic direction with recognition of excellence, reinforcing TMMA’s role as a vital driver of India’s textile engineering sector.

Prashant Mangukia of Yamuna Machine Works has been elected Chairman for FY 2025–26 and 2026–27, with Chintan Thumar of Weavetech Engineers Limited as First Vice Chairman, N. K. Brahmachari of Amritlakshmi Machine Works as Second Vice Chairman and Ganesh Shanoy of Tex-Fab Industries Pvt. Ltd. as Honorary Treasurer. In his address, Mangukia expressed gratitude to outgoing Chairman M. Sankar of Lakshmi Machine Works for his vision and dedication, which strengthened the association during a challenging period.

In his farewell remarks, Sankar highlighted the 29 percent fall in textile machinery production and a nearly 50 percent decline in exports during FY25, reflecting the strain of global headwinds, tariffs, and supply chain disruptions. Despite this, he emphasized resilience, noting that the domestic industry’s share in meeting national demand improved from 28 percent to 36 percent. Chief Guest Rohit Kansal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, underlined India’s unique position as a complete textile value chain nation and called on the machinery sector to embrace sustainability, digitization, and circularity. He announced plans for a National Textile Manufacturing Mission, promising policy and financial support to enable growth.

The highlight of the gathering was the 65th R&D and Export Awards, which celebrated industry leaders including Rieter India, Kirloskar Toyota Textile Machinery, Lakshmi Card Clothing, Premier Evolvics, Truetzschler India, Aalidhra Textile Engineers, Yamuna Machine Works, Indian Card Clothing, Colorjet India, and Sieger Spintech. The awards stood as a testament to innovation, quality and India’s growing self-reliance in textile machinery manufacturing.
